Mana Tane Ora

Challenges? Yes! Pushing out of our comfort zone ? Yes! Successes? Yes! Our class have been lucky to have Shane Nation visit on Fridays.

Shane has really helped us pull together as a class with team building activities that help us consider others and work towards class problem solving.

Key skills  we are learning:

  • Supporting each other
  • Co-operating
  • Communicating

Key ideas we unpack as a team included:

  • How we could have better used the time given to them.
  • The importance of failure, and learning from that failure to better ourselves.
  • We discussed what resilience is and why it is important.

We also unpacked the fantastic skills the class have shown during this programme, and the importance of transferring those skills into other areas e.g. the classroom, in sports, at home etc.

Everybody has learnt something specially for them and we can’t wait till our next session. Thanks Shane!

Replying to Comments

We learnt how to reply to comments to include a thank you, response to any questions or information and a question or adding more information for the commenter. We made replies to the comments left in a google slide presentation where we had put in our LunaPic Collages.

Below you can see Lennox’s comment on Xavian’s work and Xavian’s reply.

LunaPic Collages and Posting

Over the last few weeks we have created a collage using LunaPic, put it on a slide and after learning about what a quality post contains, had a go at writing a reflection on our slide about our learning.

Below you can see our slides with our images and reflections.

Next week we are learning how to write a quality comment as feedback on someone else’s work.

Te Wiki o Te Reo Māori DLOs

We created a Digital Learning Object (DLO) for Te Wiki o Te Reo Māori. A Digital Learning Object is something that is digitally created that can be used by yourself or others to assist their learning. We made ours in Google Slides.

We had to think about:

  • how to design and make a DLO that matches your audience’s needs and interests
  • how to make drag and drop DLO in Google slides
  • how to Share “copy” only links when sharing it with others to use

Here is Amelia’s:
